Torrington railway station
Torrington (L&SWR) station[1] was a west country railway station[2] that dispatched trains to Bideford and Barnstaple, as well as being a terminus for the North Devon and Cornwall Junction Light Railway line to Halwill in North Devon[3]. The station was closed for regular passenger services in 1965 but special passenger trains and freight used the line until 1982. The station building has been converted to a pub. A railway preservation society has been formed to create a railway centre by laying a short section of track adjacent to the platforms and displaying some rolling stock. Little Torrington Little Torrington is a small village near Great Torrington in north Devon, England. Yarde Halt Yarde Halt[1] was an intermediate halt on the initially privately run[2]North Devon and Cornwall Junction Light Railway, constructed in 1925 to serve clay works along its route. It was closed in 1965[3] and now forms part of the popular[4]Tarka trail, a route for ramblers promoted by the local council[5]. Information by Wikipedia.com
